History

YAMAWA has been working on Threading Tools for 100 years with a hope to contribute to machine industry.

Mr. Jokichi Watanabe started the business in Shibuya-Ku, Tokyo in 1923. Since then, YAMAWA has been making an effort to evolve its technologies along with the progress of Japanese machine industry. YAMAWA will respond to diverse customers’ needs by continuously focusing on research and development.

Oct, 1923 Founded by Jokichi Watanabe in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
Dec, 1937 Company incorporated.
May, 1945 Factory established in Yonezawa City in Yamagata prefecture.
Jan, 1953 Spun off Yonezawa Factory into a separate company as YAMAWA Taps Co., Ltd.
Jun, 1955 All products certified to Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) categories.
Jul, 1956 Acknowledged as a licensed factory by Defence Agency.
Oct, 1956 Awarded by the Department of Trade and Industry for superiority in industrial standardization.
Oct, 1963 Awarded by the Institute of Industrial Technology for superiority in industrial standardization.
Apr, 1964 Newly constructed Fukushima Factory began operation.
Nov, 1973 Awarded from the Department of Trade and Industry as superiority in industrial standardization.
Oct, 1983 Established YAMAWA Engineering Co., Ltd.
Dec, 1984 New machine tool manufacturing shop constructed inside the Fukushima Factory.
Oct, 1986 Newly completed Aizu Factory began operation.
Jul, 1989 Newly constructed Taiwan Factory opened.
Apr, 1991 Spun off Fukushima Factory and Aizu Factory into a separate company, YAMAWA Precision Co., Ltd.
Nov, 1995 Established TC (Total Cutting) Center Co., Ltd.

Nov, 2007 Newly constructed Tsutusmi plant of YAMAWA MFG. Co.,Ltd. opened in Yonezawa.
Mar, 2008 Newly completed Tsutsumi plant began operation.
Sep, 2008 YAMAWA Engineering Co., Ltd. and YAMAWA TC Center Co., Ltd. obtained ISO14001 in September, 2008.
Jun, 2011 Obtained ISO14001 and ISO9001 certification in Tsutsumi plant of YAMAWA MFG. Co., Ltd.
Feb, 2012 Obtained ISO9001 certification in TAIWAN YAMAWA Co., Ltd.
Feb, 2012 Obtained ISO9001 certification in YAMAWA ASIA Co., Ltd.
Oct, 2014 YAMAWA TC Center Co., LTD. and YAMAWA Engineering Co., Ltd. were merged into a new company "YAMAWA Engineering Service Co., Ltd."
Sep, 2015 Established "YAMAWA EUROPE S.p.A.".
Dec, 2020 YAMAWA Taps Co., Ltd.(Yonezawa Plant) and YAMAWA Precision Co., Ltd.(Fukushima Plant and Aizu Plant) were absorbed and merged by YAMAWA Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Oct, 2021 Established "YAMAWA HOLDINGS Co., Ltd.".
